BAGUIO CITY – Out of the 9672 registered live births for the period covering January to November last year, there were 18 mothers below 15 years old and 988 mothers ages 15 to 20 gave birth in the city of Baguio revealed civil registration officer Sylvia Laudencia.
This means that 10.41% of the total registered live births in the city are a result of early teenage pregnancy.
“This only shows that parents have shortcomings in molding their children and inculcating in them good values. It is our (parents) responsibility and obligation to keep an eye to our children on their daily activities,” stressed mayor Mauricio Domogan.
Also, there were 5132 legitimate registered live births or 53.06%, and 4534 illegitimate registered live births or 46.88%.
On the other hand, there were 4953 registered male live births while there were 4719 registered female live births on the same period.
Meaning, 51.21% of the total registered live births for the said period were male and 48.79% were female.
However, there were 1351 male deaths and 943 female deaths on the same period.
With the said figure, Domogan said “males die earlier than female because males have more vices compared to female.”
