BAGUIO CITY – The Animal Bite Treatment Center of the Health Services Office (HSO) reported Friday that 1,502 rabies cases were recorded in the first quarter of 2016.
Of the total rabies cases, 1,108 of those affected are Baguio City residents while 394 are transients or non-Baguio residents.
Dr. Ma. Lourdes Pakoy of the Healthy Lifestyle/Rabies Committee said the same report shows that there has been a steady increase of rabies cases since 2006.
Pakoy said cats, cattle, and horses can also transmit rabies.
She encouraged the public to visit the Animal Bite Treatment Center for a free rabies vaccination.
