1st women leader’s award launched

BAGUIO CITY – the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) is encouraging Local Government Units (LGU’s) to nominate awardees for the 1st Sonia R. Lorenzo (SRL) Awards here.

DILG-CAR City Director Evelyn Trinidad said the SRL award is a nationwide search for women in leadership and good governance launched by the University of Santo Tomas and Kaya Natin Movement, a civil society organization that promotes genuine and lasting change in government.

Memorandum Circular 2015-92 was issued by DILG Secretary Mar Roxas to this effect in order to encourage local chief executives to send any nomination for said awards.

As per minimum qualifications, a nominee must be a former or current local government official, Governor down to Barangay Captain and must have a total of five years in government service.

She must not have been convicted of any administrative or criminal case.

Judging of nominees will be according to four guidelines; Leadership experience (30%), promotion of good governance (30%), service to the community (30%) and promotion on the empowerment of women (10%).

Winners for the SRL Award will receive cash prize of P50,000.00, Plaque of Recognition and a chance to give a short lecture on leadership and good governance to students of UST.
