BAGUIO CITY – Some twenty three thousand seventeen jobs will be up for grab by job seekers during the institutionalized Labor Day jobs fair at the Baguio Convention Center on Monday, May 1, 2017.
Jose L. Atanacio, Executive Assistant IV and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager-designate, revealed there are 51 local and overseas employment companies that will participate in the whole day jobs fair wherein 36 are local companies while 15 are overseas employment agencies.
Of the available jobs, the local companies are offering some 2,814 vacancies while the 15 overseas employment agencies are making available some 20,803 jobs in the different parts of the world.
The participating local companies include government agencies, call centers, hotels, educational institutions, construction companies, department stores and groceries, fastfood chains among others.
The available jobs being offered by overseas employment agencies are found in the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, United States of America, Taiwan, Brunei, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Singapore, Palau, South Korea, New Zealand, Japan and Cyprus.
The Labor Day jobs fair is being spearheaded by the local government, the Cordillera Offices of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-CAR), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Commission on Higher Education.
Atanacio called on job seekers to be at the venue earlier than the scheduled start of the activity and for them to bring along with them sufficient copies of their documents which they could farm out to the different companies offering the vacancies that need their qualifications.
Further, he reminded the job seekers to wear the necessary attire considering that there are instances when they will be interviewed by their prospective employers on the spot, thus, the need for them to be also prepared for the on the spot interviews.
Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan will deliver the inspirational message during the short opening program prior to the start of the Labor Day jobs fair while regional officials of concerned government agencies will be on the jobs fair site to extend the needed assistance to the applicants and the local and overseas companies in case their assistance will be requested.
