Additional POSD Personnel Needed-Mayor
June 20, 2015
BAGUIO CITY – To maintain and sustain peace and order during night market in the city of Baguio, the city government here will look for available funds to hire additional ten Peace and Order Safety Division (POSD) personnel.
Recently, a number of troublesome incidents have been reported especially during late night along the thoroughfare of Harrison Road.
Because of this, the city needs additional manpower considering the work area that the POSD personnel are manning which includes the city market, sidewalks along central business district and night market.
At present, there are only ten POSD personnel monitoring the night market which is not sufficient to sustain the orderliness in the night market.
On the other hand, mayor Mauricio Domogan requested the president and officers of the Night Market Vendors Association to augment the manpower of the city in monitoring peace and order by providing their own marshals. Said marshals will be having a close coordination with the police and POSD personnel in maintaining the orderliness in the night market.
Domogan also reminded the officers of the Night Market Vendors Association to abide by the existing policies and guidelines on the operation of the night market so as to avert any apprehensions to willful vendors.
POSD personnel were also advised to be consistent in the implement the laws, rules and regulations setforth by the city.
“The city has given you (vendors) the opportunity to have a living, however, you should also do your part and responsibilities so as to have a prosperous night market,” said the mayor./Jho Arranz
