BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan disclosed in his weekly forum last Wednesday that with the newly rehabilitated athletic bowl in this mountain resort, the city is contemplating of passing on the management from the City Environment and Parks Management Office to the Sports Division of the City Administrator’s Office
“We are still in the process of finalizing the administrative order since we are evaluating the existing regulations in the utilization of the said facility,” explained Domogan.
He stressed that sports activities of athletes/children who will be practicing for special events will not be charged for the use of the facility. However, if the utilization of the facility is for other purposes, a minimal and reasonable rate fee will be collected to be used for the maintenance of the athletic bowl.
Of the 60 million supplemental budget, the city will provide Light Emitting Diode (LED) at the athletic bowl to be used during night activities
“We are also looking into the possibility of constructing a building to be used as indoor sports facility,” added the mayor.
According the Baguio representative Nicasio Aliping, Jr., the continuing rehabilitation of athletic bowl is expected to match national and even international standards and spur sports development in the city of Baguio.
