Baguio dad orders fast tracking of drainage repair works

BAGUIO CITY – With the onset of the rainy season, Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan ordered the city engineering office to work double time in repairing the drainages around this mountain resort.

During the Monday morning flag raising this week, the local chief executive said that it is a priority for the city government fix defective drainage and institute the appropriate repairs so that water will immediately flow into the system and prevent the accumulation of water.

‘We need to immediately attend and repair the drainages because it pose danger to the general public and the local government is liable for whatever accidents that might happen to people as a result of poorly maintained drainages,’ Domogan said.

He cited that there were several accidents that happened because some iron grill covers of the drainage were removed.

Domogan said the city government is mandated to maintain drainage systems for the convenience of the public, especially during heavy downpour so that flooding in major roads could be prevented.

It is best for the concerned offices to cover the open drainage systems in order to prevent untoward incidents that will compromise the safety of life and limb considering that open drainage systems are usually the cause of untoward incidents that compromise public safety, Domogan stressed./JBZ PIA CAR
