BAGUIO LIBERALS HIGHLIGHT NEED FOR CONSULTATIVE GOVERNMENT

BAGUIO CITY –The local Liberal Party (LP) A-1 Team will kick off its campaign on March 27 with the call for a citizen’s summit to thresh out pressing problems besetting Baguio to day.

Incumbent Baguio Rep. Nicasio M. Aliping Jr. will lead his A-1 Team in a mass at the Baguio Cathedral at 8 am after which the entire team and their supporters will parade down Session Road to the Malcolm Square where a proclamation rally will be held and where the team will make the call for the citizen’s summit.

According to Rep. Aliping, the A-1 Team will banner a consultative government where every citizen of Baguio will be allowed to air their concerns on the problems which are besetting the city.

“Our major problems today are on garbage, traffic and the environment,” which will be the focus of the citizen’s summit,” Rep. Aliping said.

“Together with the people of Baguio, we will be able to look for solutions to these problems and challenges,” Councilor Leandro Yangot Jr. added. Yangot is seeking re-election in the city council.

“We must not forget that in order to solve these problems, there must be a moral revival among our people,” Councilor Isabelo Cosalan, who is running for the vice mayoral seat, stressed.

Aside from these problems, the A-1 Team also admitted the need to pursue the mothballed bulk water supply project in order to provide for the water needs of the growing Baguio population. As off 2010, the day-time population of Baguio stood at 420,000.

Re-electionist Councilor Joel Alangsab together with council hopefuls Joseph Cabato, Engr. Jun Orca, Rudy Paraan, Atty. Ron Perez, architect Mylen Yaranon, and Art Alad-iw echoed the need to talk with Baguio’s neighbors in order for the bulk water project to become a reality.

“It will be like a big brother, small brother relationship which means that Baguio will help the Benguet towns to develop and become prosperous themselves,” Yangot added.

“All these challenges cannot be solved by one person, it will take a unified stand among Baguio’s leaders to find the solutions which will be for the best of our beloved city. The A-1 Team is the most united team towards a vision of a better Baguio for all,” Rep. Aliping stressed./Carl C. Taawan
