BAGUIO CITY – Twenty barangays identified as most susceptible to landslides became the focus of the Community Action for Disaster Response and Emergencies (CADRE) trainings being conducted by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC).
CDRRMC training division head Glen Lardizabal said the three -day trainings will be con ducted in four batches starting last Sept. 7-9.
There will be ten participants from each of the 22 barangays identified in the Detailed Landslide Susceptibility Map from the Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources-Mines and Geosciences Bureau published in December 2015.
These are barangays Pinsao Proper, Guisad Surong, Asin, Atok Trail, Bakakeng Norte and Sur, BGH Compound, Burnham Legarda, East Quirino Hill, Happy Hallow, Happy Homes, Holy Ghost Ext., Lower Quirino Hill, Middle Quirino Hill, Middle Rock Quarry, Pacdal, Pinget, Pinsao Pilot, San Antonio Village, San Luis Village, Sto. Tomas Proper, Upper Quezon Hill and West Quirino Hill.
The same barangays were also underwent Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) earlier.
The CADRE course “aims to enhance community response by giving additional technical inputs on managing emergencies in the workplace and community.”
After the trainings, the participants are expected to gain knowledge and skills on becoming the first responders to emergencies occurring in their barangays and must be able to organize and plan a response strategy and others.
The trainings with 50 participants each are schedule on Sept. 7-9, 14-16, 21-23 and 28-30.
First day training topics are Common Hazard and Family Preparedness, Community Response Group and Responding to Incidents, Triage/Community Quick Response and Sorting Technique, Dead Body Management, Community Light Search and Rescue, Basic Life Support and First Aid and Fire Emergencies.
Days 2 and 3 consist of actual demonstrations on triage, light search and rescue and fire emergencies, basic life support, first aid and finally, the disaster scenario and simulation./Aileen P. Refuerzo
