BCPO cited for exemplary performance during elections

BAGUIO CITY – The city council passed a resolution commending the men and women of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) for their exemplary performance in supporting the Commission on elections (Comelec) maintain a peaceful and orderly elections in the city last May 9, 2016.

The resolution authored by Councior Roberto C. Ortega was unanimously Approved upon the recommendation of the committee on human rights, justice, public protection and safety, peace and order.

The resolution stated the city government recognizes the quality of service, dedication to their respective duties and responsibilities and the remarkable efforts of the men and women of the local police force in extending utmost assistance to the Comelec that resulted to the realization of peaceful and orderly elections in the city last May 9, 2016.

With the cooperation of the general public, the council cited the BCPO led by Acting city Director Senior Superintendent George D. Daskeo for the realization of a peaceful and orderly elections in the city.

It added the police force that is efficient and devoted to their pledge of duty as manifested by the BCPO will surely motivate the other members of the police force and the citizens in upholding peaceful and orderly elections in their places.

The passage of the resolution was in recognition of the outstanding commitment and dedicated of the members of the BCPO for maintaining a peaceful and orderly elections that is worthy of emulation and appreciation.

During a previous re-election command conference in Camp Crame, Quezon City, no less than Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director-General Ricardo Marquez cited BCPO for its exemplary performance in being able to maintain peace and order before, during and after the elections that is why the ability of the local police force to do so is worthy of emulation by other police offices in the different parts of the country.

Baguio is one of the highly urbanized cities in the country with zero election-related violence and incidents during the previous elections making the city as one of the peaceful areas during the conduct of the political exercise.

For his part, Daskeo expressed his gratitude to city and barangay officials and the citizens of the city for their utmost cooperation in the stringent rules and regulations that were implemented by the local police force, particularly the Comelec checkpoints, the gun ban among others, that resulted to positive results before, during and after the elections.

“Everyone deserves a pat on the back for a job well done. We could not have achieved peaceful and orderly elections without the cooperation of the people who adhered to the stringent rules and regulations that were implemented. We also thank our city officials for trusting the local police force in being able to maintain peaceful and orderly elections,” Daskeo stressed.
