BAGUIO CITY – Photographs depicting dramatic Burnham lake scenes emerged as top winners in the recently concluded 108th Baguio Charter Day celebration “Beautiful Baguio” photography contest.
A scene showing swan boats in perfect array amid a placid lake taken by Marc Jan D. Calub won first place in the conventional category while another vista of the lake and the boats captured at night time by Sheila Mae Desamito copped the top prize in the mobile phone category.
Calub also won the grand prize in the 2014 edition of the contest.
The other winners in the conventional category were Lino Tabangin, a grand prize winner in last year’s hobbyist category, whose entry shows a solitary pine cone appearing forlorn along a pavement, second prize; and Clinton Aniversario with a drone shot of Mines View Park, third place.
Rounding up the mobile photo category top three were Ace Willis via his photograph of the gazebo at Mines View and Sharon Queding’s panoramic take of the city’s mountains.
Now on its 7th year, the two-category contest continues its aim to showcase the natural beauty of the city
The top three winners in the conventional category will receive cash prizes of P15,000, P10,000 and P7,000, respectively while those in the mobile phone category will get P10,000, P5,000 and P3,000 respectively.
A total of 90 entries were received in the conventional category while mobile phone hobbyists submitted a total of 57 entries.
The annual contest is a regular feature in the Baguio Day calendar of activities sponsored by the city government. /Aileen P. Refuerzo
