LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Outstanding and best performing Benguet farmers who received awards in the national and regional levels were recognized by the provincial government during the Farmer’s Event as part of Adivay Festival and the province’s 116th foundation anniversary.
Governor Crescencio Pacalso acknowledged the farmers’ contribution in the development of the province bringing home honor and prestige to the province.
Rogel Marzan , the 2016 Regional Gawad Saka Outstanding Organic Agriculture Farmer, 2016 Regional Winner for Outstanding Farming Family Awardee and 2015 National Awardee – Outstanding Individual Farmer leads the list of awardees.
The awardees are as the following: Cornelo Benigno and Family – 2016 Regional Gawad Saka Outstanding Family; Rebecca Faustino – 2015 Gawad Saka Outstanding High Value Crops Farmer; Valerio Ramos – 2015 Outstanding Organic Agriculture Farmer; Bashoy Farmer’s consumers Cooperative – 2015 Outstanding Barangay Food Terminal (non-local government unit managed); Jefferson Laruan – 2014 Gawad Saka Outstanding Organic Agricultrue Farmer; and Romeo Kimbungan – 2014 Regional Gawad Saka Outstanding Agricultural Entrepreneur and 2015 Outstanding Individual Farmer.
Also awarded were Gusaran Multipurpose Cooperative – 2014 Outstanding Barangay Food Terminal (non-LGU managed); La Trinidad Organic Practitioners Multipurpose Cooperative – 2016 Regional Awardee for Outstanding Small Farmer’s Group and Tublay Municipal LGU – Best Performing Municipality in Organic Agriculture.
Meanwhile, sustaining its awards and gains at the national arena, the province was accorded the Seal of Good Local Governance and was ranked number 21 in the 2016 Competitive Index./SCA-PIA-CAR, Benguet#
