BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan created a committee to implement the mandatory drug tests for officials and employees of the city government.
The mayor will chair the committee with city health officer Dr. Rowena Galpo as action officers.
Dept. of Interior and Local Government city director Evelyn Trinidad, the Baguio Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) co-chairman Vice Mayor Edison Bilog, city administrator Carlos Canilao, city legal officer Melchor Carlos Rabanes, city social welfare and development officer Betty Fangasan, acting city human resource management officer Edith Dawaten and LGU-Baguio Employees Association Inc. representative Charito Bueno were named members of the committee.
In his Administrative Order No. 117, the mayor tasked the committee to determine the methods or strategies for the implementation of the mandatory drug test for the officials and employees as well as the procedures to take when intervention is needed along with the available services for treatment and rehabilitation.
The committee will also take charge of conducting training programs and activities to increase awareness on the harmful effects of drugs and to encourage the officials and employees to embrace healthy lifestyles while at work and at home.
The mayor directed the action officer to immediately convene the body.
The mayor said this is in support of the anti-drug campaign of President Rodrigo Duterte and in compliance with Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, the DDB and Civil Service Commission (CSC) memorandum circular prescribing the guidelines for a drug-free workplace in the bureaucracy./Aileen P.
