BAGUIO CITY – Structural improvements, repairs and lighting fixture including updating of bike rental fees were recommended through a status report on the legislative monitoring and evaluation of recreational vehicles at Burnham Park.
The biking area was specifically pointed out in the status report by Legislative staff officers Michelle Dulay and Dan Ricky Ong, in coordination with Burnham Park Project Evaluation Officer Joseph Hermogeno and biking concessionaires, with the approval of City Environment and Parks Management Officer Cordelia Lacsamana.
Recommendations include the installation of lighting fixtures around the biking area, repair of clogged drainage and provision of environmental friendly decorations. From the concessionaires’ side, came the request for eight (8) additional adult bikes for hire.
Rental rate increase was also recommended for 4-wheel bike – P100/hour; side car, mountain bike, jr. mountain bike, single tandem; all on a P50/hr rate; while kiddie and go carts are pegged at pedal go- P100/hr; chopper go cart- P150/hr; side car ordinary – P50/hr; 2-wheels and small bike ordinary at P40/hr.
Adult bike concessionaires have a maximum of 17 standard assorted units of rides for rent a day, while kiddie bike concessionaires are allowed 32 units of assorted units. Other rides such as motorcycles, motor scooters and midget cars are no longer being used.
The legislative monitoring and evaluation status report is based on Ordinance 427, series of 1966, amending section 4 of ordinance 243 which pegged rates for recreational vehicles at Burnham Park more than two decades ago. /Julie G. Fianza
