CEPMO personnel undergo landscaping training

BAGUIO CITY – Some 56 city environment and parks management office (CEPMO) personnel underwent a training course on ornamental flower production and practical landscaping last January 21-22.

CEPMO officer Cordelia Lacsamana said the training aimed to enhance the capability and skills of her staff in flower growing and garden designing which they can apply in discharging their tasks.

The participants were apprised on the basics of landscaping by Villamor Zaparita, public services assistant of the parks division of the CEPMO.

Public services officer Jones Gas-ib lectured on nursery cultural management practices, planting media requirement, application of fertilizers, propagation through seeds, proper sowing of seeds, watering, cultivating, pinching, drying and treating seeds, picking or potting, control of plant pests and diseases, shade requirement, treating of cutting with rooting hormone prior to planting, propagation through cuttings and selection of planting materials.

At the end of the course, the participants were asked to apply what they learned in an actual landscaping workshop where prizes were given to the best output./A Refuerzo
