Christmas toys sale venue sought

BAGUIO CITY – The Melvin Jones stage, Burmham Park is proposed to be the venue for Christmas toys’ sale, by members of the former Paputok, Lucis at Ibp group, now Pailaw.

This is being considered, Mayor Mauricio Domogan said, as coordination is being done with the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) head Cordelia Lacsamana.

The group now called Pailaw formerly dealt with firecrackers and pyrotechnics, but was convinced to sell Christmas toys and decors this year. They sold their wares last year, with permission from Mayor Florencio Bentres of Tuba, after the ban from Baguio City and neighboring municipality La Trinidad.

Permission was sought from the city council to sell at Ibaloi Park and Ganza parking, both at Burnham Park, but was denied for various reasons. The Baguio Convention Center was also suggested, but turned down as it is used for vehicle parking. Parking areas for vacationers with vehicles are needed this season, the mayor said.

As the group was convinced to change wares from pyrotechnics, to toys, we support them, the mayor added.

A comprehensive study is underway, Domogan also said during the weekly Ugnayan, for an available venue./Julie G. Fianza
