BAGUIO CITY – Members of the city council passed two separate resolutions commending the city’s athletes and coaches who participated in last year’s Muay Thai National Open and National Championships at Teacher’s Camp, here, and Philsports Complex, Pasig City, respectively.
Both measures were authored by councilors Arthur Allad-iw, Faustino Olowan, Benny Bomogao and Leandro Yangot, Jr..
The Baguio Muay Thai delegation, composed of 22 athletes and 12 coaches, emerged as overall team champions during the national championships in Pasig capturing 21 medals (13 gold, seven silver, one bronze) in various categories.
In the national open at Teacher’s Camp, the city’s Muay Thai team with eight athletes and four coaches garnered eight medals (two gold, two silver and four bronze) in different categories.
The athletes and coaches are from local schools and martial arts clubs including Baguio City High School, Pinget National High School, Kafagway, Scorpion Martial Arts, Max Fusion, Team Lakay, Tribal Torogi and Universal Martial Arts.
“The Muay Thai artists and their coaches once again brought pride and honor not only to their families but also to the City of Baguio perpetuating Baguio’s feat as a producer of martial arts champions,” the approved resolutions stated./Gaby Keith#
