City Commends Quirino Hill for Anti-illegal Drugs Stance

BAGUIO CITY – the City Council here thru a resolution commended the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) of Lower Quirino Hill Barangay for helping authorities stop the proliferation of the drug menace.

City Officials spearheaded by Mayor Mauricio Domogan and Vice Mayor Edison Billog personally handed the recognition Monday to Officials of Quirino Hill Barangay headed by Punong Barangay Van Oliver Dicang for their successful discovery and dismantling of a drug den in the said barangay in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

It can be recalled that a raid was successfully conducted last March 30 by Anti-Narcotics agents of PDEA in Lower Quirino Hill barangay thru the efforts of the Quirino Hill BADAC which resulted to the confiscation of illegal drugs and the arrest of notorious drug personalities.

The resolution introduced by Councilor Faustino Olowan reads, the BADAC displayed utmost courage and will to negate such illegal activities in the barangay in order to protect its constituents and maintain peace and order, hence deserves appreciation.
The resolution also congratulated and commended the PDEA –CAR for the success of the operation and bringing to the fore the fight against illegal drugs.

Domogan said, “the cooperation of barangay residents is very vital in the fight against illegal activities.”

“We need teamwork in the fight against the drug menace, the city government, law enforcement agencies, Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council and barangay officials have to do their share as front-liners to make the campaign against illegal drugs a success,” he said.

Domogan also stressed,” the campaign against illegal drugs by the barangays is a huge help as they are knowledgeable in the identification, regular monitoring and reporting of those involved in illegal drug activities in their respective barangays. “/Paul Rillorta
