BAGUIO CITY – The City Treasury Office (CTO) under Alex Cabarrubias has updated its system of collecting taxes aimed at making the annual process faster and more convenient for tax payers.
Assistant city treasurer Ponciano De Jesus said starting Thursday, January 2, taxpayers are advised to proceed to the One-Stop-Shop at the first floor, right wing, of City Hall to pay their business, real property, cedula, and other fees.
As has been the usual protocol, he pointed out that senior citizens, persons with disabilities and those who are pregnant are given priority in the payment of taxes and fees.
Since January to March are historically the months with the most number of clients, chairs have been provided outside the One-Stop-Shop for the convenience of those who are waiting their turn to pay their fees and taxes.
De Jesus disclosed that the CTO is continuously finding innovations like the latest centralized system in making the process of payment and collection of taxes and fees more efficient and convenient for the public.
The move is also in accordance with the city government’s 15-point core agenda of speeding up government action for a Better Baguio under Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
Earlier, Cabarrubias stressed that taxes are the lifeblood of the government and taxpayers are mandated to pay their obligations with the city considering that taxes collected are plowed back for the welfare of the public.
“This is achieved through the implementation of priority development projects and enhanced delivery of basic services to the people, especially in the city’s different barangays,” he said./Gaby Keith
