BAGUIO CITY – The city government here will celebrate the Annual Character Week this coming October.
The celebration is part of the city’s commitment to make and sustain “Baguio a Character City by installing positive character values in all aspect of human endeavor in schools, businesses, churches, barangays, media, community groups, families, city and regional offices and non-government organizations” pursuant to Resolution No. 107, series of 2003.
To realize the city’s goal and vision for a peaceful, clean, green and progressive Baguio, a center for education, trade and family-oriented tourism, managed by God-loving and strong-willed leaders in partnership with self-reliant and disciplined citizenry, the members of the Baguio Character Council recently convened to come up with the activities in the celebration of the Character Week slated first week of October.
Among the proposed activities include a song writing competition for schools, distribution of posters with good values for the barangays and civic society, faith community seminars for religious sector, character orientation seminars for government employees, free massage and haircut to employees and public, among others.
The Baguio Character Council is headed by mayor Mauricio Domogan with assistant city human resource management officer Edith Dawaten as the coordinator together with members from government; barangay; education; religious; business, trade, industry and tourism; civic society and professionals; and peace, justice and community relations.
“To have a meaningful Character Week celebration and as part of the city’s advocacy to sustain the program by showcasing positive moral traits, other activities are lined up for its finalization focusing on good moral values,” said Dawaten./Jho Arranz
