City Prosecutor’s Office reports high solution rate

BAGUIO CITY – The Baguio city prosecutor’s office is among the top five prosecutor’s offices in Region I according to city prosecutor Elmer Sagsago in Monday’s flag-raising ceremonies at City Hall led by Mayor Mauricio Domogan and Vice-Mayor Edison Bilog.

“My fellow prosecutors and I regularly work overtime and even on holidays just to serve the legal needs of the public,” he said.

Sagsago revealed that his office has a complement of 19 prosecutors who are mostly young and majority of whom are women.

For the first three quarters of 2016 (January 1 to September 31) the city prosecutor’s office has reported a disposition rate for preliminary investigation of 99.60 percent where 2,010 of a total of 2,018 complaints for disposition were resolved leaving only 8 cases pending ending September of this year.

It also reported a 99.84 percent disposition rate for inquest proceedings for the same period where 633 of the 634 total number of complaints for disposition were resolved ending September of this year.

For his office’s “very good” performance, Sagsago thanked the Baguio City Police Office, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Budget Office and the city council.

“These offices have continuously assisted the city prosecutor’s office in making our job much easier to serve the legal needs of the public,” he said./Gaby Keith#
