BAGUIO CITY – The city’s pasadang pambarangay program has served 46 barangays this year with the assistance of the different partner agencies and volunteers disclosed Community Affairs Officer Noel Mabutas.
This weekly endeavor aims to bring various services of the city government to the marginalized sector of the society so as to address the problems of the community which range from health and medical needs, social services, infrastructure, environmental, among others.
“The pasadang pambarangay has sustained its purpose with the continuing and active cooperation of the different partner agencies like the Baguio Rotary Club, Baguio City Emergency Medical Services, Family Planning Organization of the Philippines, Baguio Center for Young Adult, Reflexology Association of the Philippines Traditional Medicine Inc., Department of Science and Technology, Optical Clinic, Philippine Red Cross, Philhealth, Public Employment Services Office, DZEQ Radyo ng Bayan, Luke Foundation, Veterinary Office and Health Services Office,” said Mabutas.
He stressed that the city was able to sustain the pasadang pambarangay program for 25 years which needs to be institutionalized already.
Pasadang pambarangay is a continuing program of the city government here in reaching out to the grassroots of the community.
The existence of the Administrative Order No. 113, series of 1996 on the conduct of a weekly pasadang pambarangay is a clear proof that the city recognizes the vital role of the barangays in nation building and effective and efficient delivery of basic services to the grassroots level./Jho Arranz
