City students provided with drug prevention activities

BAGUIO CITY – A total of 1,452 secondary students in the city so far were provided with drug prevention and intervention activities by the Uplife Movement after entering into a tripartite memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the city government represented by Mayor Mauricio Domogan and Schools District Office-Baguio represented by City Schools Supt. Federico Martin.

Martin reported this in Monday’s flag-raising rites at City Hall before local officials and employees headed by Vice Mayor Edison Bilog.

He said the students attended a Youth Summit in partnership with a team headed by the Vice-Mayor where drug abuse and its ill effects were thoroughly discussed.

School Against Drug Abuse Councils composed of various school-based stakeholders were organized in every school including the Lakas Isip Ng Kabataan in coordination with the Philippine Mental Health Association aimed at strengthening the minds of learners in facing challenges.

In terms of financial management, Martin revealed that the Schools Division Office (SDO)-Baguio ranked first in utilization rate, disbursement rate and obligation rate in the entire Cordillera region according to a Department of Budget and Management (DBM)-generated reports.

SDO-Baguio also had the most complete financial documents that were submitted on time from July to October this year, he added.-gaby keith
