BAGUIO CITY – The city government terminated the services of a contractor undertaking the construction of a three-story school building at the Baguio City national High School-Main after failing to finish the project within the prescribed period.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan rescinded the contract of DWD Construction and Services for the said project after the company failed to complete the project awarded to the firm on Dec. 19, 2012.
The mayor said a notice to proceed was issued on January 8, 2013 to the company to begin the project with a 105-day contract duration.
After failing to finish the building within the prescribed period, the company was given an 86-day grace period to complete the project.
“Despite said extension, (the firm) did not finish the project. A series of inspections has been done and the later inspection conducted on July 27, 2015 showed that (the company has) only 97.32 percent accomplishment,” the mayor said.
“The contract ended actually in August 2014 which is more than one year from (the present) and (the firm) did not do anything to complete the said project,” the mayor said.
The mayor said the slippage has been assessed by the inspection team of the city building and architecture office and on that basis, Division of City Schools and Supt. Francis Cesar Bringas recommended to the mayor the cancellation of the contract after a series of discussions and evaluations./A Refuerzo
