City to Implement Athletic Bowl Rehab, 40 other Projects with P233M Supplemental Budget

BAGUIO CITY – The city government can now develop the Baguio athletic bowl and implement 40 other projects  with the city council’s approval on Monday of the supplemental budget amounting to P232,900,000.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan requested the amount to finance 23 priority projects including the development of the sports facility worth P60 million, purchase of six dump trucks, P30 million and fencing of Busol watershed, P10 million.

The mayor tasked the offices of the city engineer and the buildings and architecture to finalize the programs of work for the projects identified to fast-track the bidding and implementation of the said projects.

“They have been informed of the urgency of these projects especially the athletic bowl which needs to be ready for the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) meet and the Panagbenga, the People’s Park and others so I hope they are ready with the programs of work and plans and specifications by this time,” the mayor said.

The supplemental budget will be on top of the approved 2014 budget of P1,439,582,000.

The amount will be sourced out from the unappropriated surplus and funds from unimplemented projects for over five years under the 20 percent development fund and saving s from implemented projects.  These funds were certified available by the local finance committee.

From the supplemental budget, P20 million will go to the construction of Rillera Building; P15 million each for additional hauling expenses for solid waste and construction of the General Services Office building; P11 million for the improvement of City hall building; P10 million each for improvement of Mines View building, development of Malcolm Square and improvement of road leading to the Philippine Science High School; P5,000 for generator set for city hall;

P4,000 for construction of pasalubong center; P3,500,000 for two vehicles for city council staff; P3,200,000 for service vehicle of the city mayor’s office; P2 million each for the improvement of Balacbac Road, repair of traffic light along Naguilian Road, fencing and gate improvement of the Court of Appeals and additional hosting fund for city administrator’s office; P1,600,000 for the improvement of Block 4 and tobacco section; P1,300,000 for the payparking facility; P1 million for clean and green prizes and P300,000 for Panagbenga prizes.
