City won’t allow use of sports facility if it will cause delays

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio Domogan will not allow the use of the Athletic Bowl for any event if it will cause delays in the project’s completion.

This was clarified by the Chief Executive Wednesday during the weekly Ugnayan Presser here live over Sky Cable and aired over DZEQ Radyo ng Bayan.

It can be recalled that the city government allowed the use of the Baguio Athletic bowl to be used by the Saint Louis University Medical Mission and Jehovas Witnesses annual gathering after a meeting was held by the different stakeholders including the event organizers, the City Engineering office (CEO), the City Environment and parks Management Office (CEPMO), the Department of Public Works and Highways Baguio City Division Engineering Office (DPWH-BCDEO) and the project contractor.

Domogan said,” the scheduled events can however push thru if portions of the facility will be used such as the bleachers and the stage.”

“For as long as it will not impede the early completion of the project, it is okay,” he said.

The mayor also said the city is not backing-out from hosting the CARAA scheduled next year.

Domogan said, “the DPWH-BCDEO has already committed that they can finish the work as scheduled.”

“We still have the whole months of November, December and January before the hosting of CARAA and rehabilitation works will be finished by then,” he said.

Domogan also said,” he will communicate with the DPWH and validate with their timetable if indeed the sports facility can be finished in time for CARAA next year.”/Paul Rillorta
