Civil servants reminded to always give their best services to the public

LUNA, Apayao – As the nation celebrates the 117th Philippine Civil Service Month, government workers are reminded to always give their best services to the public.

Civil Service Commission(CSC) Commissioner Roberto Martinez, who was the guest of honor and speaker during the regional launching of the Civil Service Month celebration in Apayao, stressed the need for public servants to do their functions according to Civil Service rules and take an extra mile in rendering services to the public.

Martinez also urged the employees to go back to the basics and adhere to the oath of office that they took when they entered government service. The basic precepts include accountability to the people , serving them with utmost responsibility, integrity, loyalty and efficiency, acting with patriotism and justice, and leading modest lives.

CSC-Cordillera Regional Director Marilyn Taldo, on the other hand, reiterated to government employees to make public service their passion for life. As a continuing challenge to all public servants, this year’s PCSA celebration theme, “Tugon sa Hamon ng Pagbabago: Malasakit ng Lingkod Bayani”, reminds us to manifest “malasakit” (compassion) in public service, she said.

Taldo and Apayao Governor Elias Bulut, Jr led Cordillera civil servants in the regional launching on September 4 which started with parade from the Apayao Provincial Capitol to the BGVJR Memorial Sports Complex at the Luna municipal grounds.

During the program, the cheerdance and zumba fitness dance competitions among clustered government offices in the province were launched. It also kicked off the month -long Friendship Games which started with a basketball match between the CSC-CAR officials and employees and the Apayao Provincial Capitol team led by the Governor.

CSC and Apayao officials also led the ground breaking ceremony for the CSC Field Office to be built in the lot donated by the municipal government of Luna at the Apayao Eco-Tourism and Sports Complex.

On September 5, despite the inclement weather due to Typhoon Kiko, CSC-CAR conducted Anti-Red Tape Act Caravan – Public Service Day at the Luna Municipal Grounds where seven frontline agencies from the Cordillera and Cagayan regional offices and the provincial office of Kalinga came to render service.

Among the participating agencies were GSIS and the Professional Regulation Commission of Cagayan region, the Bureau of Internal Revenue from the Kalinga Provincial Office, the Philhealth, CSC, Department of Trade and Industry and Dept. of Social Welfare and Development–CAR and Apayao provincial offices.
