Council re-organizes standing committees

BAGUIO CITY – The city council reorganized the chairmanship and memberships of its standing committees following the assumption of the new set of members of the local legislative body for the term 2016-2019.

Five members of the council, particularly Vice mayor Edison R. Bilog and Councilors Roberto Ortega, Peter Fianza Michael Lawana and Elmer Datuin retained the chairmanships of the Committee on Ways and Means, Human rights, Justice, Public Protection and Safety, Peace and Order, Education and Culture and Historical Research, Barangay Affairs and Youth Welfare and Sports Development and tourism, Special Events, Parks and Playgrounds, respectively.

Neophyte Ciy councilor Arthur Alad-iw was chosen as the Chairperson of the Committee on Employment, Livelihood and Cooperatives and Persons with Disabilities while Councilor Joel Alangsab was voted upon as the Chairman of the Committee on Ethics, Governmental Affairs and Personnel.

Councilor Ellaine D. Sembrano was chosen as the Chairperson of the Committee on Health, Sanitation, Ecology and Environmental Protection while Councilor Faustino Olowan was voted upon as the Chairman of the Committee on Laws.

Councilor Leandro B. Yangot, Jr. was selected as the Chairman of the Committee on Market, Trade and Commerce while newcomer Co7uncilor Benny Bomogao was selected as the Chairman of the Committee on Public Utilities, Transportation and Traffic Legislation.

Councilor Maria Mylen Victoria G. Yaranon was placed as the Chairperson of the Committee on Public works, Councilor Lilia A. Fariñas was selected as the Chairman of the Committee on Social Services, Women, Urban Poor while Councilot Edgar Avila was chosen as the Chairperson of the Committee on Urban Planning, Lands and Housing.

Sembrano will be the city council to the representative to the City Health board, Yangot will seat as a member of the Baguio City Market Authority, Bomogao will be a member of the Traffic and Transportation Management Committee, Avila will seat as a member of the City Housing board and the City Lands Identification Committee and the Local Zoning Board of Adjustment and Appeals Ortega will seat as a member of the City Peace and Order Council, Datuin will be a member of the Baguio tourism Council while Fianza will be a member of the City School Board./Dexter A.
