BAGUIO CITY – Eleven cut flower vendors along Harrison Road were given financial assistance from the city government here through the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by CSWD Officer Betty Fangasan.
Secretary to the mayor Rafael Tallocoy together with Fangasan handed the five thousand pesos check each to the eleven flower vendors Tuesday, January 10.
The city’s Self Employment Assistance (SEA) Livelihood loans provide financial assistance for livelihood projects to help alleviate the living condition of the beneficiaries and making them become self-sufficient.
SEA livelihood loan program is part of the city’s program for poverty reduction which provides entrepreneurial capacity building for all Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P) beneficiaries.
It is a community-based credit assistance program targeting low income communities in order to establish, sustain and manage their own business with no collateral and interest-free loan as capital.
Fangasan reminded the vendors to pay their loans so as to give other beneficiaries the chance to also avail of the program.
Moreover, she advised and urged them to help in maintaining cleanliness in the said area.
It is recalled that the city allowed the displaced flower vendors to vend along Harrison Road with the condition that anytime the city will need the said area for further development, they will voluntarily vacate./Jho Arranz#
