BAGUIO CITY – Being the second parents of the young children in Baguio, about 87 day care workers underwent a two-day capability building conducted by the city government here spearheaded by the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by CSWD Officer Betty Fangasan last May 26 and 27 at the Elegant Hotel.
The said training aims to enhance and develop the skills of day care workers on how to properly handle and motivate the young children especially in times of unforeseen natural catastrophe.
Highlighting the training was the revisiting of the Early Child Care and Development (ECCD) that focuses on supporting young children’s development at their early childhood.
The day care workers realized how to handle and motivate young children to listen and cooperate in times of typhoon/landslides, earthquake, fire, and bomb threats, and at the same time the first aide basics to be done by the day care workers.
Also, every day care center is encouraged to practice backyard gardening.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan acknowledged the priceless dedication of the day care workers in molding the values of the children at their early childhood.
“Your role as day care workers is very important in the development of young children. The city needs your special skills, patience and talent to teach the children in developing their skills and talents as well as good values,” said Domogan.
“Teaching , training and developing the children at their early childhood is very important in the society, and subsequently, in the country as a whole in the near future,” he added.
At present, the day care workers only receive P4,000 subsidy every month from the city government. However, the city has already proposed an increase of P2,000 which is still pending the approval of the city council./Jho Arranz
