BAGUIO CITY – Department of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Assistant Secretary Charles Jose will be in the city and Benguet next week to hold series of forums on the narrative of the West Philippine Sea issue and the position of the government.
On Wednesday, February 17, a multi-sectoral forum is set from 9:30 to 11:30AM at the University of the Cordilleras Theater. This is expected to be attended by representatives from the national government agencies, local government units, academe, and the private sector.
This will be followed by luncheon press conference and a focus group discussion in the afternoon among selected key informants.
A campus tour (forum) is set on the same day from 2:30-5:00PM also at the UC Theater to be participated in by students from the different universities in the city.
On Thursday, Feb 17, ASec Jose will be La Trinidad for a campus tour at the Benguet State University Closed Gym from m 9:30 – 11:30AM.
The advocacy campaign aims to increase the level of awareness of the public through the conduct of briefings, focus group discussions and media engagements on the Philippine narrative of the West Philippine Sea issue and to support the Philippine government’s position on said issue.
Asec Jose has been going around the country holding multi-sectoral forums and campus tours to explain the core issues underlying the West Philippine Sea, the principles underpinning the Philippine position and the country’s initiative to address the West Philippine Sea issue.
The Cordillera leg culminates the West Philippine Sea advocacy campaign which is a collaborative effort of the DFA and the Philippine Information Agency in coordination with the various stakeholders at the local level./JDP/SCA-PIA-CAR, Baguio
