DOH urges partners to continue inspiring people to live healthy lifestyle

BAGUIO CITY – The Department of Health Cordillera Regional Office recognized its outstanding partners in implementing health programs and advocacy in the region challenging to continue to inspire people and touch lives towards healthy lifestyle.

Dubbed as “Gawad Kalusugan, Harmonized Regional Awarding”, DOH–CAR Regional Director Lakshmi Legaspi led in giving recognition to provincial/city/municipal local government units, public and private health facilities and local health workers that have shown valuable contributions in the implementation of health programs

Recognized were Best Performing NBS (New Born Screening Facility) and Functional NBS teams; Mother Baby Friendly Health Facility Initiative; Best Performing Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit; Dugong Bayani Award (best implementer of blood donation program); Purple Ribbon Award (outstanding reproductive health initiatives and programs); Barangay Health Workers Performance-based Incentive; Local Health Systems Awards; Functional Inter Local Health Zones; 100 percent Smoke- free Environment; Advocacy on Healthy Lifestyle; Leprosy- free Municipalities; Best Performing TB DOTS Facility; Best Performing Local Governance against Dengue, Zika and Chikunggunya virus; Best Sanitation Practices; Sustained High Coverage on Nutrition School Deworming and Rabies- free LGUs.

Legaspi, in expressing DOH’s appreciation to all the awardees also stressed on their important contributions in ensuring healthy communities down to the grassroots level.

She disclosed that through their help, the region achieved better child and maternal health, increase in facility–based delivery, increasing smoke–free environment, more baby-friendly health facilities, and more people going into healthy lifestyle, among others towards the realization of DOH’s battle cry of “All For Health, Towards Health For All”.

“Your success is also our success, through your pride, commitment and dedication to serve the people of Cordillera,” she stressed.
