BAGUIO CITY – Baguio City mayor Mauricio Domogan will once again be awarded in this year’s prestigious Gawad Parangal award presented by the Association of Local Social Welfare Development Officers of the Philippines, Incorporated (ALSWDOPI) for an outstanding service in promoting and upholding social services in the city.
After a thorough screening and validation by the ALSWDOPI, Domogan’s continued support to all social welfare endeavors in the city made him an awardee of the said Gawad Parangal.
City social welfare and development officer Betty Fangasan stressed Domogan has always been giving priority on all the social endeavors of Baguio.
Among his accomplishments include the establishment of different offices (units) in the city at Pacdal, Scout Barrio, Bakakeng, Kayang and Aurora in order to bring the city’s social services needed closer to the grassroots.
The existence of the silungan center, senior citizen’s centers, social development center for the youth and the youth auditorium at Balenben, Irisan.
The institutionalization of social services activities such as the celebration of family month, children’s month, pasadang pambarangay, mass wedding, among others.
Funding of Philhealth to ensure the health of identified less fortunate individuals as well as livelihood assistance.
Moreover, the allotment of P100,000 funds annually of every city councilor for the medical needs of the indigent individuals and/or families.
The full support on the war against drugs under the Duterte administration wherein the city government here is continuously giving assistance to persons with substance disorder (PSUDs).
Domogan together with Angeles City mayor Edgardo Pamintuan are this year’s outstanding mayors in the highly urbanized city category and will be recognized and awarded on April 26 at the SMX Convention Center, Davao City during the national convention of ALSWDOPI. /Jho Arranz#
