BAGUIO CITY – The Department of Tourism- Cordillera Regional office partners with another private institution as it pushes for green architecture in this mountain resort.
Last January 29, the DOT Regional Director Marie Venus Tan and University of Cordilleras President Ray Dean Salvosa signed a memorandum of agreement for “REV – BLOOM” Baguio! To bring in green architectural design to tourism infrastructure and in revitalizing other tourism sites in the Summer Capital and its neighborhood.
Under the partnership, UC as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, commits to share expertise, skills and knowledge in providing technical assistance and services to DOT’s projects under REV – BLOOM Baguio including the green architecture design of the DOT Regional Office and Master Development Plan of the Tourism Complex and nearby Sunshine Park.
UC also commits to provide manpower assistance to maintenance and preservation activities of the tourism department.
The (architectural) plans for the building and also the Sunshine Park will be developed and donated by the UC while DOT’s counterpart is to allocate the funding, Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority chief Operating Officer Atty. Guiller Azido said.
Funds for the development of the Regional Office and the whole tourism complex into a tourism hub for information, exhibits and conference area had already been allocated, he said.
Azido also disclosed that aside from the DOT Complex, DOT in coordination with the city government, are also looking into the Burnham Park Master Development Plan designed by the UC to see how they can bring in short and long term development projects for Baguio’s well known park./JDP/CCD and Erlyn Lomboy – PIA/SLU Intern
