DPWH to set up motorists assistance stations this Christmas holidays

BAGUIO CITY – To ensure safe travel during the holiday season, the Department of Public Works and Highways(DPWH) will set up Motorists Assistance Stations along the highways leading to this mountain resort.

Skeletal workforce will be in place and DPWH Action Officers during the Christmas holidays will be designated to render emergency services that may be required with the influx of visitors.

The motorists assistance stations shall assist the travelling public along the highways in coordination with other concerned agencies like the Land Transportation Office, the Philippine National Police and local government officials.

DPWH Cordillera OIC-Assistant Regional Director Alberto N. Gahid has instructed the District Engineering Offices to also activate their composite teams including personnel and mechanics to respond to road emergency situations and aid the travelling public on strategic locations in their jurisdictions.

DEOs with on-going Long Term Performance Based Maintenance Projects are further instructed to coordinate with the project engineers of both the Unified Project Management Office and concerned contractors for the scheduling of their road works and the installation of necessary traffic advisory.

This is to further ensure that all national roads are thoroughly maintained, free from potholes and obstructions in the flow of traffic and necessary directions are given to motorists for smooth and easy travel. Routine maintenance activities for roadways, bridges, shoulders, drainages, and traffic services shall also be undertaken. Informative/regulatory warning signs and traffic advisories shall be provided to further assure the continuous flow of traffic and unhampered transport of goods and services.(PIA/DPWH-CAR release)
