E-Bingo in Council
June 20, 2015
BAGUIO CITY – The city council will tackle a move to ask the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) to withdraw the authority granted to the operator of e-Bingo joints at SM Baguio and Baguio Center mall in its regular session on Monday.
The body invited PAGCOR chief executive officer Cristino Naguiat Jr. and two other key officers as resource persons during the deliberations.
The PAGCOR officials were also asked to present all the documents relative to the approval of all e-Bingo applications in the city.
Councilor Richard Carino sought the withdrawal of PAGCOR’s authority to the two joints because their operation was not endorsed by the city council as what is required under the law.
Councilor Lilia Yaranon earlier also manifested her intention to move for the recall of the council’s endorsement of the operation of the e-Bingo joint at the Centerpoint Plaza in Bakakeng Central.
The Centerpoint outlet had no endorsement from the city council until recently when the body approved the application of operator Rafael Tabora resulting to flaks from religious groups and anti-gambling advocates in the city.
Councilor Betty Lourdes Tabanda earlier proposed a resolution asking the city permits and licensing office not to process the renewal of business permits for e-bingo operations unless there is an official city council action interposing no object to said applications.
Apart from Naguiat, the body also invited Gaming Licensing and Development Department remote gaming unit senior manager Nelia Lorenzo and Corporate and Legal Services Department senior legal counsel Arnie Salvosa to the session which will start at 2 p.m. at the city council session hall./A Refuerzo
