LAGAWE, Ifugao – – Ifugao Provincial Election Supervisor (PES) Ricardo Bulintao urged members of the civil society organizations (CSOs) including the various religious groups to help the Commission on Election (COMELEC) to ensure the conduct of the 2016 elections will be clean, honest and orderly.
He expressed this during the Voters Education Forum organized by the Provincial Moral Recovery Council and attended by members of the different CSOs and religious organizations in the province.
Bulintao oriented the participants regarding the Campaign Rules and Regulations, the Gun Ban Law, the Fair Elections Act, the Environmental Laws to be observed relative to the coming election, the Campaign Finance and Limitations and other relevant election matters.
Everyone must obey the lawful election propaganda and avoid the prohibited forms of political propaganda, abide with the Gun Ban Law, follow the Environmental Laws relative to the elections, observe the common poster areas, comply with the Calendar of Prohibited Acts and the candidates to file their Statement of Contributions and Expenses 30 days after the election to the COMELEC, he explained.
Bulintao also told the group that the campaign period for the national candidates is from February 9, 2016 to May 7, 2016 and from March 25, 2016 to May 7, 2016 for the local candidates.
He challenged all to help and support the COMELEC in making the 2016 election peaceful, orderly, clean and credible with following courses of action: 1) Voters education to dissuade vote selling, vote buying and guiding the voters in choosing the best and good candidate; 2) Serve as citizens arm watchers during the voting and counting of votes; 3) Assist the COMELEC in monitoring campaign expenses and violations of campaign rules by serving as witness or complainant; 4) Assist and monitor the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines in the implementation of the Gun Ban Law and, 5) By serving as member in the “COMELEC Task Force Baklas”./JDP/DBC- PIA CAR, Ifugao
