Ifugao PLGU trains new barangay nutrition scholars

LAGAWE, Ifugao – The Provincial Nutrition Office recently trained 19 newly appointed or designated Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) in the province in order to perform well their duties and responsibilities as frontline workers in the community.

The participants were oriented on their duties and responsibilities including the selection of Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC) members and how to establish a BNC corner and spot map. They were also taught on how to prepare a causal model, accomplishment reports and other reports using the prescribed forms for submission.

As of last month, the province has 191 BNS delivering the basic health and nutrition services even to the hard-reach areas in the province. They perform general weighing or Operation Timbang to 0-71 month pre-school children, prepare an action plan and other reports submitted on regular basis.

Ifugao has been consistently producing outstanding BNSs in the region even in the national level, however some BNSs were found to be low performing and ineffective particularly the new ones. /(PIA Ifugao)
