Keep cleared roads for public use, La Trinidad dad appeals

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – – The local chief executive here seeks the cooperation of owners of establishments and structures cleared from obstructing public roads and sidewalks to keep the areas free for public use.

Mayor Romeo Salda made the appeal as the local government unit continues its road clearing operations in compliance with President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive mandating all local officials to exercise their powers to reclaim public road used for private reasons.

Demolition operations were already carried out in Ambiong, Puguis and along Km 6. The last was done in establishments and a gasoline station along Kilometer5.

Salda said there was not much resistance among those who were affected as they see it coming with the order issued directly by the President.

General Services Office Head Dwight Daodao said those issued notices for clearing of obstruction who do not have equipment or manpower sought the help of the local government.

To effectively carry out the presidential directive, Salda reorganizing the town’s anti-obstruction task force and enforcement team which he chairs.

The task force is co-chaired by the Police Major Roldan E. Cabatan of the Municipal Police Station with Legal Services head, lawyer Bartolome Baldas and Municipal Engineering Office head Engr Julius U. Mandac as vice chairpersons.

The enforcement team is composed of staff from the Mayor’s Office, Treasury Office, MEO, Planning and Development Office/Zoning, Legal Services Office, and the Police Station.

Salda said their operation followed due process by issuing initially notice of obstruction then notice of demolition. (JDP/SCA-PIA-CAR, Benguet)
