Mayor Encourages Muslim Graduates to be Disciples of Peace

BAGUIO CITY – more of less 40 students belonging to the city’s minority Muslim community were honoured in this mountain resort during their graduation rites.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan said, “what they have attained should be a stepping stone to attain a higher education and become the disciples of peace.”

Domogan speaking before the graduates said, “this is the time for the graduates to realize the fruits of their hardships and the difficulties they have undergone during the period.”

“It is but fitting that you develop these skills and talent that Allah has given you, for you to propel yourself and climb the ladder of success and progress in life,” he said.

The class was spearheaded by its Valedictorian Johary Jamal, a young Muslim who is a staunch believer of both fate and God who rallied his classmates to continue persevering to attain a higher level of education.

They composed the 2015 graduates of Almaarif Educational Center (AEC), the only Muslim school in Baguio City catering to Muslim students from all over the country.
The School is presently under the care of its President and School Director Shaikh Mohammad Camil Abdullah.

The event was graced by Mayor Mauricio Domogan, Congressman Nicasio Aliping, Jr., Tawi-Tawi Congresswoman Ruby Sahali, Saudi Embassy Religion Attache Shaikh/Turky Bin Abdulrahman Assaig, Atty. Yasser Guro of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos-Northern Luzon, AEC Legal Counsel Cherry Dane Farinas-Agustin, Punong Barangay Leia Farinas and members of the Muslim community.

Congressman Aliping for his part also imparted that education is the best gift one can have and how it is the key to progress.

“We thank Allah for the blessings and graces he has showered upon us, what you have learned in this institution should be propagated for good of the community,” he said.
Aliping also congratulated the proud parents of the graduates and thanked them for their continuous guidance they have committed to their children.

“This institution is a welcome development not only for the city but for the whole Muslim community in the country which only shows that we remain as the Educational Center of the North, ‘ he said./Paul Rillorta
