BAGUIO CITY – Baguio City mayor Mauricio Domogan this week approved the suspension of the number coding scheme anticipating the arrival of foreign and local tourists for the Yuletide season.
In his approved administrative order no. 172, Baguio’s number coding scheme is suspended from Dec. 21 to 31 considering that vacationers from the lowlands are expected to flock in this mountain resort during the Christmas and New Year breaks to escape the extreme heat in their areas and enjoy the city’s cool and romantic weather, pine-scented air and scenic spots.
Domogan admitted that while it is true that during long holidays the city experiences worse traffic conditions, their visitors should also be given the chance to roam around various tourist spots with their vehicles.
The suspension is anchored on city ordinance no. 1, section 6 as amended by section 1 of ordinance no. 107, series of 2008 exempting private motor vehicles and chartered public utilites of visitors, tourists and vacationers./Jho Arranz
