Mere changing of guards in Bilibid is useless

LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” (Romans 12:2, the Holy Bible).

MERE CHANGING OF GUARDS IN BILIBID IS USELESS: The disclosures being made by Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II during the last two days or so about the continuing proliferation of illegal drugs trading inside Bilibid, or the National Penitentiary in Muntinlupa City, prove the correctness—pardon me for saying this—of what we have been saying all along, right at the moment that Special Action Forces were deployed in the establishment to replace jail guards believed to be in cahoots with drug syndicates.

We said then that mere changing of guards—from the old Bureau of Correction guards to Special Action Force policemen—at the National Penitentiary will not truly stop the trading of illegal drugs there, if there is no corresponding change of heart and mind of the SAF policemen or other people who will be assigned in that place.

Unless the new guards, whether they be from the Philippine National Police or the Armed Forces of the Philippines, have true fear and love of God in their hearts and in their minds, they will be susceptible to corruption coming from those interested to pursue the multi-billion peso sale and distribution of illegal drugs using the National Penitentiary as headquarters. Aguirre just confirmed the devastating accuracy of what we predicted.

EVERYONE HAS BECOME A CRIMINAL: I am tempted to say, “I told you so”, but then, let me repeat the truth: what I have been saying about evil and criminality in our midst are not really mine. They come from the Christian Bible. This book says many people will become truly sinful and bad and evil during our time.

The reason given for this phenomenon is that, man (and, yes, Filipinos in particular) will leave the faith, and will no longer listen to sound teaching or instruction, and will instead take fancy of deceiving thoughts and doctrines from the devil. They will care about nothing except themselves. They will be wild, slanderous, and will have no fear and love of God. In fact, many will even deny God and His human incarnation, Jesus.

Consequently, it would be very easy for almost everyone to commit heinous acts—from raping and killing even mere babies and octogenarian women, to stealing billions in government funds in more ways than one, to dispensing uneven justice, acquitting the guilty and persecuting and jailing the innocent.

TRUE CHANGE IS POSSIBLE ONLY WITH SPIRITUAL REFORM: The objective of any true leader, therefore, is to make sure that there is a spiritual transformation among his constituents. Any true leader who aspires for truly beneficial changes must see to it that the minds and the spirit of the people he governs are reformed so they will no longer conform to the evil that controls the world.

The genuine leader must be concerned about “renewing the mind” of the population, by instilling in them true fear and love of God, whatever each one of them may call Him in his or her own religious group or affiliation. There must be an effort to steer our countrymen towards having the “Spirit of God” in each one of them, so that in whatever they think, say, and do, they will always be guided by godly principles.

At the very least, a leader truly desirous of freeing his people away from the grip of evil must teach them to always ask themselves, in whatever they think, say, or do: is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? And, will it be beneficial to all concerned? If everyone will do this, we will be on our way to success and progress.
