Most challenged barangays named

BAGUIO CITY – Out of the 128 barangays in the city of Baguio, twenty barangays were named to be the “most challenged barangays” last Oct. 10 during the 26th Local Government Day celebration at the Baguio Convention Center.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan labeled the 20 barangays “most challenged barangays” considering that their performances were assessed to be below par during the evaluation of the search for the best performing barangays.

Making it to the bottom of the barrel are barangays ABCR, Ferdinand-Campo Sioco, Camp 7, Bayan Park Village, Campo Filipino, Upper City Market, Kayang Extension, Lower Magsaysay, Kagitingan, Loakan Liwanag, Lourdes Proper, Phil-Am, Upper Magsaysay, AZCKO and Lower Dagsian.

Completing the list are the five barangays who did not submit their 2016 budget which is a pre-requisite to the search for best performing barangays. Said barangays include DPS Compound, Kayang Hilltop, Lower Lourdes, Malcolm Square and Salud Mitra.

The local chief executive called the attention of the non-performing barangays and reminded the barangays officials of the said barangays to do their mandate for the development and improvement of their respective jurisdiction in terms of barangay administration and governance; environmental management; social services, health, wellness, nutrition and sanitation services; peace and order; public safety and competitive edge, among others. /Jho Arranz
