Right to abortion in RH law struck down
Volume XVII NO 25 (April 12-18, 2014)
LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “…This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister…” (1 John 3:10, the Holy Bible).

IS THIS THE WAY TO HONOR WWII HEROES? There are many things that World War II veterans, Engr. Fernando Javier, 106 years old, and his younger brother, Dr. Jose P. Javier, 104 years old, both of Baguio City, should be thankful about.
First, their long-life and good health. Second, their relatively good life as World War II veterans amidst the continuing difficulties and sufferings of Filipino veterans at this point. Third, their having good memories, despite their age.
In all these blessings, they concede that they have no one but God to thank. And, no, they need not thank the government for their relatively good life at present, since they are receiving from it only the measly amount of P5,000.00 a month as pension benefits. Again I ask: is this the way to thank and honor the Filipinos who sacrificed virtually their all in the 1940s just so we can be free and peaceful today?

THE SECRET OF LONG LIFE, ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE: Indeed, having a long and healthy and productive life is a guaranteed dividend when one believes and have faith in, and truthfully obeys, God. In Provebs 3:1-2, we are told: keep in mind and in our hearts the precepts and teachings of the Lord and these will add to the years of our lives, and will even give us everything that we need to become successful and victorious. Try God now and taste and see His goodness!!!

STORM SURGE, TORNADO, ARE SURE TO COME: “Cebu was warned of a possible storm surge Tuesday, but a tornado struck instead,” wrote Cebu Sun Star reporter Linnette Ramos Cantalejo. The twister destroyed 38 houses, a barangay sports complex and several electric posts, when it tore through Barangays Tisa and Mambaling in Cebu City at around 2 p.m. on April 08, 2014, Cantalejo also reported.
Well, this is actually no longer news, as far as I am concerned. The truth is, we have been writing about the coming rains, floods, and strong wind in this column, quite repeatedly by now, as predicted by Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, in Matthew 7:24-27. The death and destruction from these calamities are sure to come, Jesus said, unless we, as a people, will do something.
What is this something that we must do? We must listen to Jesus and obey Him. Let us hear from Jesus Himself, from Matthew 7:24-25: “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock…”

RIGHT TO ABORTION IN RH LAW STRUCK DOWN BY SC: Like Malacanang, I am withholding any comment on the decision of the Supreme Court on the Reproductive Health Law, until after I shall have already read the complete ruling. As it is, the media accounts on the decision, issued in Baguio City on April 8, 2014, seem incomplete and unable to present what the Court’s real ruling was.
That notwithstanding, I am glad that media reported that the provision on the law giving even minor girls the right to get an abortion, with or without their parent’s knowledge and permission, was among those declared unconstitutional. I hope the report is accurate, because, truly, how can we even allow minor girls to decide whether the child in their womb should be killed or not? God bless the Supreme Court for this!
