Silahis ng Pasko Calendar of Activities Slated

BAGUIO CITY – This year’s Silahis ng Pasko in the city of pines celebrates its 41st anniversary of caring and sharing.
A children-parents Christmas mardigras will kick-off the activity at the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) followed by the grand opening program at the Melvin Jones grandstand on Dec. 1.
Subsequently, the awarding ceremony for the Mr. and Ms Little Silahis ng Pasko 2014 will be held at the Melvin Jones grandstand.
On Dec. 6 will be the Baguio children’s Christmas fun alley and raffle joys.
The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Cadet’s day at the park where a silent drill exhibition by the PMA cadet corps will be held on Dec. 7 at burnham park followed by a concert in the afternoon by the PMA band.
The quest for the Baguio Lucky Christmas Family 2014 will be chosen from Dec. 6 to 8 where the winners will have the chance to have a red carpet reception, accommodation, sightseeing tours and courtesy calls on ranking government officials and many more surprises.
The Immaculate Conception day festivities will also be expected on Dec. 8.
A special day for the special people will be on Dec. 13. A wheelathon for paraplegics and walkathon for the blind and a chess tournament for the special athletes will be held at the Malcolm Square which will start as early as 6:30 in the morning. Also, there will be children’s palaro on the same date.
The dancing and singing Christmas tree by the Baguio City National High School is scheduled on Dec. 14 while the Kafagway Sportsfest where the individual baton twirling contest to be participated by the elementary, high school and college students will be held at the Malcolm Square.
The Baguio Lucky Balikbayan and Car Sportsmen Day where the quest for balikbayan individual, couple and family and the Balik ng Balik Balikbayans will have a Get Together on Dec. 27 including the Baguio-Cordillera International Athletes and Sportsmen.
A motorcade along the city’s main streets and the presentation of Baguio Lucky Balikbayan tokens and “Pinikpikan” Food Festival will be held at the Sunshine Park on the same date.
This year’s quest for the Lucky Christmas Baby will be held on Dec. 25 while the Lucky New Year Baby will be chosen on Jan. 1, 2015
The Silahis ng Pasko activities will culminate with the 28th Annual Kafagway Sports Award Program at the Malcolm Square on Jan. 24, 2015./Jho Arranz
