BAGUIO CITY – Here’s a good news for the youth and other interested individuals.
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is providing P8.6 million worth of technical – vocational scholarship for Cordillera regionin line with the government’s thrust to reduce poverty and bring more employment opportunities to the Filipino people.
TESDA Deputy Director General for Technical Education and Skills Development Operation Alvin Feliciano assisted by Cordillera Regional Director Rafael AbrogarIIled the ceremonial awarding of around P8.6 million worth of Training for Work Scholarship (TWSP) grants during the graduation at the Baguio City School of Arts and Trades (BCSAT), Wednesday.
The TWSP grant is expected to benefit 1,219 scholars from differentparts of the region. Abra is allotted with 150 slots with to P1.075M educational assistance; Ifugao- 285 slots with P1.092M; Kalinga- 150 slots with P1.310 M, and Mountain Province -175 slots with P1.66M grant.
For the TESDA Baguio – Benguet provincial office, the Regional Training Center received around P1.85M of grants for195 scholarship slots while BCSAT was awarded with around P1.64M worth of grants involving 264 scholarship slots.
During the event, Abrogar also confirmed as graduates 120 Tech – Voc students of BCSAT. Baguio – Benguet Provincial Director Angela Gabriel assisted TESDA DDG Feliciano in awarding the certificate of completion of the tech –voc students that took Barista, Bartending, Cookery and Food and Beverages Services.
Feliciano, in his congratulatory message, affirmed TESDA’s commitment in bringing their programs and services down to the grassroots level. They already engaged over 42,000 barangays in their goal of strengthening technical – vocational education and skills development, as a career option and a prime mover of community development in line with the government’s thrust to reduce poverty and address the concern on unemployment.
