Two Asians chosen lucky foreign visitors

BAGUIO CITY – the summer capital has chosen two women from different countries and culture as this year’s Lucky Foreign Visitor.

Sponsored by the National Correspondents Club of Baguio (NCCB) in cooperation with the City government of Baguio, the Department of Tourism-CAR, Cordillera Broadcasters Alliance and other tourism oriented organizations, two women were hand-picked to form part of the growing lucky foreign visitors.

They are Tomoko ‘Monica’ Ushimaru, 27 of Takayamachi, Gifa, Japan and Peng Jun Qi “Penny”, 25 from Wuzhixian, Jiaozoushi, Henasheng, China.

The two are visiting students in the city and presently enrolled at the Monol International Education Institute taking up short courses in English Second Language (ESL) and International Language Testing System (IELTS).

They will be treated for 4 days with free hotel and meal accommodations and tours of the different tourists spots in the city and Benguet.

Mayor Mauricio Domogan officially welcomed them December 11 at the Mayor’s Office where they were given the symbolic “Key of the City” assisted by DOT Regional Director Marie Venus Quinto Tan and NCCB President Narciso Padilla.

After the official welcome, the lucky foreign visitors also visited La Trinidad Mayor Edna Tabanda and Benguet Governor Nestor Fongwan and were toured at the Strawberry Farms and vegetables gardens of Benguet.

Part of the itinerary are religious, cultural and social events with tours to the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), the Brown Madonna, BENCAB Museum, Ifugao Woodcarving Villages, Easter Weaving, City market, Wright Park and Burnham Park./Paul Rillorta
